POSITION          : EXTERNAL & 3PL SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGER

SITE                    : BOKSBURG

DIVISION            : CORRUSEAL CORRUGATED GAUTENG

REPORTING TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To manage the external-to-plant supply chain performance and costs against specific standards for constantly changing needs. This includes all external warehouses, their related operating entities (3PL), material handling equipment suppliers  and pallet processes as a profit centre.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compliance to the company safety strategy and risk requirements.
  • Management and support of external warehouse performance and compliance to standards.
  • Management of 3rd party warehouse service providers.
  • Management of internal material handling equipment and related suppliers.
  • Management of pallet processes and pallets as a profit centre.
  • Comply with all statutory compliance – ISO9001, FSC, FSSC22000, OSH1993, etc.
  • Ensure stock accuracy and quality of all stock in all external warehouses.
  • Establishing and maintain all distribution and storage standards.
  • Embedding the Lean philosophy in all work practices and management.
  • Optimising the of cycle times of key warehouse activities in a Lean framework.
  • Shift strategy and management to ensure continuous flow of product
  • Comply with customer mass customisation and unique demands
  • Custodian of all HR practices – talent development, performance management, disciplinary code, recruitment, talent retention, etc.

Technical Competencies:

  • Ability to conceptualise problems and opportunities and execute in order to solve those problems and realise the opportunities

  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Preferential - Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
  • TMS, WMS, YMS

•   Change leadership in a lean transformation environment.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

 

  • Relevant B-Com Degree in Supply chain/Logistics or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong leadership track record
  • Proven record as a distribution manager or exposure to supply chain management in a high velocity plant
