PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To provide engineering and maintenance support to the Production Department, ensuring the efficient operation of production equipment and machinery to achieve optimum productivity, minimize downtime, and maintain the consistent production of high-quality corrugated boards and boxes.

 

 

REPORTING TO:  Engineering Manager

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Minimise downtime.
  • Maintain production machinery and fault-finding during breakdowns.
  • Ensure safe running of the plant in your shift.
  • Complete jobs according to priority and planned maintenance schedules.
  • Escalate machine stoppages to Supervisors / Senior person within specified time.
  • Fault finding on Printing and Corrugator machines.
  • Adhering to health and safety practices.
  • Housekeeping.

 

 

KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings (electrical, hydraulics and pneumatics).
  • Ability to fault find PLC Allen Bradley, Siemens S7 etc.
  • Fault finding on AC and DC drives.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks.
  • Knowledge of utilities Compressors, Boilers, Generators etc.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and be a problem solver.

 

 REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Matric with maths and science.
  • N5 or higher technical qualification.
  • Trade Tested Millwright - 70% electrical and 30% mechanical.
  • 5 years’ experience.
  • Previous Corrugated Industry experience will be advantageous.
