POSITION          : DISTRIBUTION MANAGER

SITE                    : BOKSBURG

DIVISION            : CORRUSEAL CORRUGATED GAUTENG

REPORTING TO : OPERATIONS MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Execute all on site distribution functions in line with SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) requirements.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Compliance to the company safety strategy and risk requirements
  • Management of all distribution functions – Raw materials, FG, Dispatch, Returns, waste loading
  • Comply with all statutory compliance – ISO9001, FSC, FSSC22000, OSH1993, etc.
  • Stock accuracy and quality
  • Establishing and maintain all distribution standards
  • Embedding the Lean philosophy in all work practices and management
  • Custodian of the forklift driver learnership programme
  • Planning and optimising the off-loading of paper trucks
  • Management of the paper stores and finished goods warehouse
  • Management of all material handling equipment - charging protocols, asset management, abuse/damage
  • Shift strategy and management to ensure continuous flow of product
  • Risk management
  • Comply with customer mass customisation and unique demands
  • Reduction of supply chain waste – raw material and FG dumps/waste
  • Custodian of all HR practices – talent development, performance management, disciplinary code, recruitment, talent retention, etc.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

Technical Competencies:

  • People Management
  • Customer relationship management
  • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD)
  • TMS, WMS, YMS

Leadership Competencies:

•   Coaches’ Teams

•   Performance management and capability development.

•   Change leadership in a lean transformation environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Essential:

  • Relevant B-Com Degree in Supply chain/Logistics or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong leadership track record
  • Proven record as a distribution manager or exposure to supply chain management in a high velocity plant
  • Experience with people management at various levels
