Process Engineer - Lean

PURPOSE OF THE JOB 

We are looking for a driven Process Engineer with a passion for manufacturing excellence, continuous improvement, and leadership development. This role is designed for an engineer who wants to build a deep understanding of corrugated packaging operations while leading improvement initiatives across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people development.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects across corrugated and converting operations.
  • Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen, TPM, SMED, Standard Work, Visual Management, and Problem Solving.
  • Observe processes at the gemba to identify waste, variation, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Facilitate structured problem-solving activities using root cause analysis and cause-effect methodologies.
  • Improve machine reliability, changeover performance, material flow, and operational stability.
  • Support production teams in achieving Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives.
  • Lead Moonshine and low-cost automation projects to simplify work and eliminate waste.
  • Work with maintenance teams to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Analyse production data and convert findings into practical improvement actions.
  • Coach and develop operators, supervisors, and support teams in Lean thinking and continuous improvement principles.
  • Support implementation of best practices and Yokoten activities across multiple lines and operations.
  • Participate in capital and equipment improvement projects where required.

  • Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools.

 

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing exposure advantageous.
